Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular reactions on court had prompted some to question if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an better serve.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first tour victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent defended four early chances in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
